The Gudewill Library is a place where students learn information literacy and develop lifelong learning skills and habits. The objective of the library program is to support the curriculum and to teach research skills that will enable students to competently conduct research as required for their studies. In addition, the library program includes assisting students in developing appropriate citation skills. The knowledge and skills they acquire will prepare them for post-secondary programs.
The library collection reflects the curriculum and includes databases, books, teacher resources, audio books and DVDs. In addition, the library subscribes to a variety of magazines and newspapers. Computers are available in both the library and Learning Resource Centre (LRC) for students to access electronic information resources and full-text periodical indexes. Students are able to access these resources in the library, in the classrooms, and at home through the library web page.
Teachers in all grades and subject areas book the library for research instruction related to topics currently under study in the classroom. GNS students and staff are welcome to use the facilities and resources for study, research, and reading. A library staff member is available to assist students throughout the school day.
