Campus Visit Protocols

In an effort to support the well-being of all GNS staff, students, and visitors, we kindly ask you to abide by the following protocols. These health and safety protocols are based on the Health Canada and the British Columbia Center for Disease Control recommendations, in an effort to reduce the spread and transmission of the COVID-19 virus. GNS acknowledges that individuals may have different levels of comfort when it comes to their own health and safety and wishes to support the well-being of each member of our community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a member of our Admissions Team at admissions@mygns.ca.

Goals

  • To ensure a positive and welcoming experience for all visitors to GNS
  • To protect the health and safety of GNS staff, students, and visitors
  • To showcase our exceptional facilities at both the Beach Drive and Pemberton Woods campuses
  • To immerse prospective families in a unique GNS experience that highlights the benefits and successes of our rigorous and well-rounded programs
  • To protect our community of Oak Bay and southern Vancouver Island by limiting the possible transmission of the COVID-19 virus

Protocols

Prior to arrival visitors will be asked the following questions:
  • Are you currently exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, as per the BC Center for Disease Control documentation?
  • Have you recently visited any outbreak area, or have you come into contact with anyone who has visited an outbreak area, in the last 14 days?
  • Have you completed the BC COVID-19 Self Assessment Screening Tool? Please do so prior to your visit to GNS.
Admissions will confirm answers to these questions at time of arrival:
  • Have you answered NO to all the questions we asked in our confirmation email?
    • If not, please reschedule.
  • Have you completed the Self Assessment Screening Tool?
    • If answered ‘yes’ to any questions in the screening tool, please reschedule.
  • Are you symptomatic? Is there any chance you've been exposed?
    • If answered ‘yes’, please reschedule.
Guidelines for visit on campus:
  • Drop-in visits are not permitted. Please email admissions@mygns.ca to schedule your appointment.
  • We kindly ask that all visitors wear a mask when on campus. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, please let us know and we will adjust our meeting spaces accordingly.
  • We will aim to meet outside wherever possible to allow for appropriate distancing.
  • Some buildings may not be available for viewing in detail given our cleaning and maintenance schedules this summer.
  • Groups larger than 5 are discouraged. Please contact us with questions.
  • Please use hand sanitizer wherever provided and try to avoid touching your face or mouth.
  • Visitors should meet outside the Main building (by the blue bench) where you will be greeted by an admissions representative.
At this time, we are prioritizing visits for entry in September 2020 to GNS. Families interested in considering GNS for September 2021 should complete the Inquiry Form and an admissions staff will follow up with more information. We also welcome the opportunity for virtual meetings to learn more about GNS.
