Video Game Creation in IB Design 6
By Graeme Campbell
Students in IB Design 6 have been working diligently through the design cycle to create video games using a "drag and drop" coding software called Scratch.
Students have investigated the programming concepts and principles behind good game design. They came up with a plan and design for their own customized game, and are now working on turning these ideas into reality.
Scratch lets students easily manipulate objects in a computer simulation and then share these finished products with others. Their completed games will be tested by others in the class and feedback will be given and used to critically evaluate and revise their games.
Students have enjoyed the process thus far and are particularly enjoying their ability to take what they envisioned making on paper and turning it into an interactive experience.
