For their final summative project, some students in the Grade 7 I&S have become the curators of their own virtual museums.
In order to create an interactive experience for their peers to navigate, students worked to modify a pre-made template. The finished product included a variety of rooms that students could enter to observe art and artifacts from an ancient civilization. Upon clicking on one of these artifacts, students could "step up" to the piece to see more detail before returning to examine another piece.
Some students chose to make real-life museum displays instead of virtual ones, creating their own artifacts and descriptions.
The experience required students to demonstrate their knowledge by curating appropriate pieces and ensuring that the entire flow of the exhibit was appropriate to their overall vision. The presentation day was very successful and both students and teachers were given an opportunity to navigate each museum from a variety of civilizations!
