This week, students got to learn the ins and outs of basketball on wheels thanks to Ben Henkle from the Victoria Wheelchair Sports Club.
Over two days, students in every grade got the chance to experience the wheelchairs, work together, and shoot some hoops!
Ben Henkle has been involved in the sport for 13 years, and is heading off to Cuba soon to compete in a major tournament, which may afford him the opportunity to make the Canadian team for the 2020 Olympics.
The Victoria Wheelchair Sports Club is a welcoming, local non-profit society of passionate individuals dedicated to providing opportunities for inclusive participation in sports and recreation. Through events like this, they strive to build a supportive community that encourages active and healthy lifestyles and works to facilitate teamwork, relationships, and personal development.
