Is there an elite golf prep program for high schoolers in BC?

There is now. GNS is proud to introduce the Gryphons Golf Prep Program, the only high-performance initiative of its kind in BC, that uniquely integrates world-class athletic training from PGA professionals with the academic rigour of an IB World Continuum education to prepare athletes for university-level competition.

How does the Gryphons Golf Prep Program prepare athletes for university golf?

Choosing the right educational environment for a high-performance athlete requires balancing elite sport with high academic standards. At GNS, we bridge the gap between world-class sport and scholarly excellence. Our student-athletes don’t just train; they immerse themselves in a professional team culture supported by a partnership with The Golf Performance Project. This environment is specifically engineered to lower scores and build a “Train to Compete” mindset. Here, your child will master technical, physical and mental skills while earning a globally recognized IB education.

How does the GNS program integrate advanced golf technology and coaching?

The Gryphons Golf Prep Program pairs expert coaching with advanced tools to help students improve. Through a partnership with The Golf Performance Project, athletes receive one-on-one lessons from pro golfers and use high-tech simulators to track their progress year-round. Students also enjoy a full membership at Cordova Bay Golf Course, allowing them to practice on a premier course whenever they choose.

We believe that better data leads to better results. Our students use simple yet powerful software to analyze their swings and track their fitness. This isn’t just about hitting balls; it’s a full-body approach that includes strength training and on-site physical therapy to stay injury-free. By practicing 3 to 5 times a week, students build the habits needed for competitive play. We also focus on the mental game, teaching students how to stay calm and focused during stressful tournaments.

Can students maintain high academic standards while training for elite golf?

Absolutely. GNS ensures that a student’s passion for golf enhances their education rather than competing with it. Students can choose to pursue the BC Dogwood Diploma, IB Course Certificates, or the full IB Diploma. Depending on the grade of the student-athlete, participation in the Golf Prep Program can also allow students to earn between 4 and 8 graduation credits per year, directly rewarding their athletic commitment within their academic transcript.

At GNS, we believe that athletic and academic excellence are mutually beneficial. Our dedicated university guidance department provides grade-by-grade support to ensure students meet all academic eligibility requirements for collegiate athletics. To support this balance, the school provides designated personnel to manage communications between the classroom and the golf course. Holistic supports, including a full-time nurse and socio-emotional counselors, ensure that student-athletes remain healthy and balanced.

What is the cost and time commitment for the Gryphons Golf Prep Program?

The program fee is $15,000 plus regular GNS tuition. This covers all coaching, Cordova Bay membership, equipment adjustments, software subscriptions, and coach tournament travel costs. Students in Grades 9 to 12 are expected to commit to training 3 to 5 times per week and to participate in a robust competition schedule and tournament calendar.

This all-inclusive fee is designed to remove the administrative burden from families, covering everything from branded golf gear to transportation to the training facilities. For families living outside of Victoria, GNS offers full boarding services in two boarding houses located within walking distance of the campus (additional fee applies). Applicants should be university-focused golfers ready to embrace a high-performance lifestyle.
