A longstanding tradition, the GNS Head Prefect election, happened this week. Following five exceptional speeches in the Senior School assembly, we are pleased to introduce your Head Prefects for the 2025/2026 school year: Clio Milwright and Nathan Holtum!

Clio Milwright

My name is Clio. I’ve been at this school since Grade 9 when I came here from Cedar Hill Middle School. I really love it at GNS. I’ve had so much fun with the academics, especially. I’m part of Round Square and Climate Action Now, and I love planning events for our school. I’m super into the arts as well, so I always help out with the musical and the play, and I try my best to do more of the visual arts as well.

I think being Head Prefect has so many avenues to make school a more enjoyable place. I’m looking forward to planning things that I think other people want to see and that would make their lives just a bit happier every day. I wanted to be Head Prefect because I love planning things, and I think being able to speak on stage is such an important skill to have.

Next year, I want to get support for students throughout big projects so it’s a little bit easier on everyone. I have a couple big events I want to try doing, including a sports day with ice cream floats and speakers and whatnot. And I really want to try and do some small events too. For example, we had a ‘guess the number of gumballs’ set up in the Gudewill Learning Commons last term, which was really popular. I really want to focus on little moments of joy here and there around the school.

Nathan Holtum

My name is Nathan Holtum. I’ve been at the school since I was five years old, starting in Kindergarten. Next year will be my 13th year at the school. This year, I’ve been involved in Ultimate and then soccer outside of school. I’ve also been involved with Jazz Band, Model United Nations, Junior Boys Soccer, and I hope to play Senior Boys Soccer next year.

I wanted to be Head Prefect because I think that I can bring change to the school, I think that I can be of help, and I believe that I can implement a lot of people’s ideas. I’ve already received ideas such as continuing on with Geo Guesser in Senior School Assemblies, so we’ll definitely do that. I’m in the process of working on a Free Popcorn Day as well.

I’m excited to learn all the new Grade 9’s names and incorporate them into the Senior School. I remember my first day in Grade 9 was kind of terrifying, but the Grade 12s were super helpful and supportive, so I want to kind of be that person. I have some ideas for a movie night on one of the first weeks back in September, to increase community engagement. I also want to get more people out to athletics games and get the Bands more involved in assemblies and around the school.
