Good Day from GNS,
As our neighbours, we are reaching out to let you know about some of the things taking place at the school in the coming weeks which may be of interest to you!
1. OPEN HOUSES FOR THE PEMBERTON WOODS CAMPUS RENEWAL
Don’t miss your opportunity to connect with the PW Renewal Team at the Open Houses at St. Matthias Church, 600 Richmond Avenue, on Wednesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 22, 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The Open Houses are a chance to see the proposed Campus Plan, ask questions, provide feedback and learn more.
After almost a year long community consultation journey, GNS will be presenting to the Fairfield Gonzales CALUC (Community Association Land Use Committee) at 1330 Fairfield Road on May 27 at 7 PM. All are welcome! Please visit our website at pwrenewal.ca to learn more.
2. SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE FIRST BAKER STREET IRREGULAR
Directed by Kate Pagett. Written by Brian Guehring. Based on the characters and mysteries of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Join us for this Middle School production running May 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and May 11 at 2 p.m.
A cocky 14-year-old named Wiggins bungles a pickpocket attempt on a seemingly harmless old man, only to discover him as the legendary Sherlock Holmes. Intrigued by his deduction skills and the chance to solve real mysteries, Wiggins proposes a partnership. Holmes, recognizing her potential, agrees on a trial basis, but only if she helps Mrs. Hudson with the chores. Now, an unlikely duo – the street-smart Wiggins and the meticulous detective – must learn to trust each other as they and Wiggins’ crew tackle two dangerous mysteries that will test their newfound partnership.
We are happy to offer our neighbours complimentary tickets – click here.
3. GNS SCHOOL BUSING: CHANGES TO MORNING PICK UP & DROP OFFStarting on Tuesday, May 21 we will be relocating all MORNING school buses from Maddison Avenue to Richmond Avenue for Pick Up & Drop Off. We hope that this change will alleviate some of the larger vehicles using the Maddison People Priority Greenway. In addition to moving the buses, our Transportation Manager has also made a concerted effort with their team to limit school bus traffic on local roads and use collector roads as much as possible.
4. 2ND ANNUAL GONZALES LANTERN FESTIVALWe need your empty milk (no oat milk) and juice containers! GNS is proud to support the 2nd annual Gonzales Lantern Festival – a family event set to take place in September, but organizers are busy getting ready now! They are looking for donations of clean (please rinse them out!), empty 2 L milk and juice cartons to use in lantern kits for children to decorate. The goal is to collect 400 cartons! We also need 2 L clear plastic pop bottles. All cartons and plastic bottles can be dropped of at 234 Beechwood Drive on the porch in the boxes outside. Thank you for your support in making this event a great success! Wishing you all a great month of May!
