IB Diploma at GNS

GNS is privileged to offer the highly esteemed International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) to learners in Grade 11 and 12, as an option for curricular enrichment.

Graduates of this two-year program are accepted enthusiastically into universities around the world, who often reward our students’ hard work by honouring IB DP credits as first-year university credits.

According to the University of Alberta, "The IB program gives students the skills they need to succeed in university, from improved study habits, to exam-writing experience, to workload and time management. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to stick with it—and persistence pays off, in university and beyond!"

Andrew Arida, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at UBC, talks about a few of the benefits of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Glenlyon Norfolk School has been an authorized IB Diploma Programme School since 1996. Since that time, our students consistently score above the world average on their IB exams. We have a high success rate (over 97%) for diploma candidates, and our diploma graduates have earned an average 33.2 points (out of 45), and 5.22 points (out of 7), an exceptional record.

Furthermore, our IB students and faculty have been recognized through awards and scholarships in Canada and internationally. Our teachers also serve as examiners, teacher trainers, and curriculum leaders for the International Baccalaureate Organization.

Note: The IB Diploma Programme is optional in Grades 11 and 12; however, students may enhance their education by taking as many or as few classes as they like from the programme.
