Beach Drive Learning Commons

The Beach Drive Library Learning Commons (LLC) provides a warm and inviting environment where our community—students, teachers and parents—are encouraged to wonder, investigate, discover, reflect and ultimately recognize the joy of reading and develop a love for learning.
Our trained teacher-librarian collaborates with all of our staff on curriculum planning and teaching, provides our teaching faculty with professional resources and guidance, and supports and enriches classroom learning and the Programme of Inquiry with a multitude of resources. Our LLC offers flexible and constant access to a vast number of physical and digital books for both research and pleasure. All students visit the LLC on a regular weekly basis and they are welcome to use the space before and after-school as well as at break times throughout the day. The online Library Catalogue offers links to in-school and online resources.

Over-looking the ocean, students are inspired to read, write and research. As an IB school, our students are encouraged to ask questions and seek answers. Inquiry is acted upon. The LLC is critical in its support of the teaching and learning through the Primary Years Programme. Our collection of over 15,000 books supports the Programme of Inquiry and the IB Learner Profile, offering a wide range of fiction and non-fiction that reflects the international world we live in. We are continuously adding to our collection so that we are able to offer the most recent and relevant titles; we also offer books in French, Mandarin and Korean.

Available for reading, research or study, our LLC is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Parents are welcome to come in and to borrow books for home. Our active student-run Library Squad group members and parent volunteers are on hand to help shelve materials and plan and organize LLC's events.

Our Library Learning Commons is filled with answers. You bring the questions— come explore!
