While students have transitioned to distance learning with Gryphons Online (GO!), our students have also had the opportunity to take part in co-curriculars. There is a wide variety being offered to students, including options in arts, athletics, academics and service.

The Junior School has been able to keep Round Square meetings going, speech arts and they have an online running program to maintain the students’ training for track.

In the Middle School, students have the chance to take part in Jazz Band, Choir, Debate, Round Square and much more. As well, those who want to be part of athletics teams have the chance to join in sports like Soccer, Badminton, and Tennis.

The Senior School also has many opportunities to get involved outside of GO! classes. There is the Science Club, Model United Nations, and Choir, amongst others. For athletics, with the cancellation of any league competitive games, students have been working on their skills in Rugby, Ultimate, Soccer and more.

The implementation of co-curricular programs with GO! has shown the wide-spread adaptability of our many clubs and the willingness of students to gather virtually in order to support each other.

Students in certain clubs were able to borrow equipment like field hockey sticks and rugby balls, so they could continue to practice and hone their skills at home. The Science Club has continued their learning, with a book club component and will be implementing science challenges throughout GNS. The Grade 8 to 12 Tennis group has been taking part in Andy Murray’s ‘volley challenge’.

Various challenges are being used to motivate our athletes to keep honing their skills, including the basketball teams with Mr. Ollech, to make sure they keep in top form for when they can get back on the court.
