Grade 8 Gallery of Fame Adapts Digitally

Our Grade 8 students were able to adapt and go forth, as they upheld the long-standing tradition of performing in the Gallery of Fame. It may not have looked like previous years with students walking down to the stage and showing off their knowledge and creativity to an audience, but they still managed to put on quite a show—virtually.

For the Gallery of Fame, the Grade 8s use detailed research to take on the persona of an important figure from history. This year, students had to work to create environments and costumes appropriate to their character while in their homes. The sets they created were used as the backdrop for recording their performances of their speeches showing not only their character’s physical and vocal nuances, but also their own adaptability and creativity.

Mr. John Smith, Ms. Kate Pagett and Mr. Jake Burnett all recognized the hard work and adaptability of these Grade 8 students in Middle School assembly and acknowledged the perseverance of these students.

“Congratulations to our Grade 8s who worked tirelessly hard to ensure this year’s unique ‘Digital’ Gallery of Fame performances go down in GNS history—and for all the right reasons,” said Mr. Smith. “Throughout April, students had to reimagine their tightly-rehearsed performance in a different context but with exciting new artistic possibilities. The resulting performances showcase a variety of fantastic ideas, perspectives and experimentation that demonstrate resilience, creativity and resourcefulness. GO GNS!”

Hats off to our Grade 8 Gryphons for their work on the Gallery of Fame and for truly fulfilling the idiom that “the show must go on!” Watch some of their performances below!
