Middle School Field Hockey Wraps Up Season

Fortunately, we didn’t have rain for any of our lunchtime practices, which felt like a real treat considering it was April on Vancouver Island.

There was a great mix of experienced players who play in leagues outside of school combined with people who had just picked up a field hockey stick for the first time ever. No matter the amount of experience, Ms. Bunny Hughes was incredibly impressed with the amount of growth that was shown in such a short amount of time.

The students took part in fun drills to sharpen up their dribbling and passing, and also perfected their curls and draws. Each practice ended with some small sided games, in their cohorts, for some fun competition and to master the rules of the game.

For the final practice in each grade, their skills were put to the test with a mini competition day! Congrats to our Grade 6 winner Salina Dhrolia, our Grade 7 winner Olivia Gratton, and our Grade 8 winner Katey Shaw-Lewis.

Ms. Hughes would also like to send out a big thank you to our Senior School field hockey players who volunteered to help run practices—your wisdom and energy was very much appreciated!
