By Emily Harris Last week was non-stop fun at the Pemberton Woods campus. With three camps playing endless games, trying new sports or learning about the ocean, it was a great week to be at ‘school,’ especially because no homework was given out! The Chipmunks (Kindergarten to Grade 2) spent time running, playing endless games, and crafting. Cholena trains for jiu-jitsu with West Coast Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Victoria and led a jiu-jitsu lesson for the Chipmunks during their ninja-themed day. Sports Day was a hit, filled with games, soccer and outside play! On Thursday the Chipmunks jumped on the blue bus and sang songs all the way up to the Shaw Ocean Discovery Center in Sidney. The group learned how creatures feed in the ocean and got up close with sea anemones and sea stars. On Friday, Wonder Woman showed up for superhero day and the group had a pizza party at lunch! It was a fun-filled week with Cholena at the Chipmunks Camp. Her Winter Wonderland Camp is approaching quickly, with only a few spaces remaining! The Otters (Grade 3 and 4) were unstoppable. From sport to sport and game to game, the group did not tire out! On Thursday, they went to CARSA to climb the Peninsula Co-op Climbing wall. For some it was their first time climbing, and they even reached the top of the wall! This was a great energetic group of kids and Katie cannot wait to share her love for hockey with the Otters in the Winter Wonderland Stix and Skills Camp from December 16 to 20th. Katie played Centre position on the Bishops University Varsity team and has coached hockey for many years in Ontario. Join us a week full of floor hockey skills, drills, games, soccer and ice skating at Oak Bay Rec. Parents, take some time to prepare for the busy holiday season, we offer single days and full week options, space is limited. Professor Howey hosted her Witches & Wizards Camp for Grade 5-7s. The group created their own wands, challenged Professor Howey’s escape room and played Harry Potter themed games. They walked to Oak Bay Sweet Delights to search for Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans and spent an afternoon at the Board Game Cafe downtown. This week was full of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Don’t miss your chance to attend the next Witches and Wizards camp during Spring Break (March 16 to March 20). See the Out of School Programs Resource Page in Blackbaud for more information. The countdown to Winter Break is on, 3 weeks to go! For more information regarding camps, please visit mygns.ca/gryphon-life/gns-camps or the Out of School Programs Resource Page in Blackbaud. Have a friend who does not go to GNS? Our camps are open to GNS and Non-GNS students!
