Round Square Ongoing Initiatives

Earlier this month, there was a bake sale outside the Dining Hall to help support the Red Cross’ endeavour to support those impacted by Hurricane Fiona. This was a very successful bake sale, with many delicious goodies ranging from cake pops to cookies! This sale attracted not only students but teachers from around the school, including our very stern no-nonsense but hungry math teachers.

If you missed out on the bake sale, do not fear as a Halloween-themed candy sale is happening on October 31 with proceeds going towards the BC Children’s Hospital.

Round Square students will also be organizing a monthly movie night starting in November. Concession items will be available, such as candy bags and popcorn, and tickets will be $5 each. The audience is encouraged to wear comfy pyjamas and to arrive at Denford Hall at around 5:30. The first movie night date will be coming out soon!

In addition to goody sales and movie nights, Round Square members have also started organizing environmentally-based initiatives such as invasive species removals to help protect Victoria’s native plants. Dates and instructions for signing up will soon be posted.

The Round Square members are also looking at ways to improve their own community. They plan to reassess and re-evaluate the school’s recycling and waste bin system and look at ways to improve its efficiency.

October is shaping up to be fun-filled with lots of opportunities to support Senior School Round Square initiatives.
