During the first part of Spring Break, Senior School students in Grades 10 to 12 once again have the opportunity to take part in a four-day Surf Camp in Tofino based at Surf Grove Campground.

As last year was the first time, students will have the opportunity to not only explore Tofino but also learn new skills on the water with Surf Sister surfing school.

“Providing a surfing opportunity is such a great use of a resource that we have on the Island,” Mr. Clayton Webb, Director of Outdoor Education has said about the Surf Camp. “It’s really cool to expose students to it that have never had the opportunity, or students who have had the opportunity and want to master it a little bit more.”

There were many first-time surfers at the camp last year, including Charlotte Quinn ’24, who really enjoyed the chance to take on new challenges and embrace being a risk-taker.

“It went really well,” she said when she got back. “I like everything that involves the outdoors, so most outdoor opportunities I like to take part in. I’ve tried windsurfing before but never surfing and I’ve always wanted to try it so this seemed like the perfect opportunity.”

There are still some limited spaces available for the Spring Break Surf Camp that will run from March 21 to 24. To express interest please fill out this form, or for more information contact Mr. Clayton Webb at cwebb@mygns.ca
