Years ago, GNS Middle School Principal Jake Burnett taught at an international school in Hong Kong. This year, he was contacted by a former Grade 7 student, Emanuela Yeung, who is in the process of completing her PhD at the University of Victoria. “It really speaks to the cyclical nature of education,” says Mr. Burnett. “Everything comes back around.” Working with the UVic’s Child Development Lab, Emanuela is studying the development of children’s social understanding. Middle-School-aged study participants are notoriously difficult to find, so she contacted Mr. Burnett hoping he could help. He decided to put the word out to the GNS community. This is a one-time study that will take approximately 1.5-2 at the University of Victoria. Scheduling is flexible, and children will receive a $10 gift card for their participation. Please contact Emanuela Yeung at eyeung@uvic.ca or 250-472-5699 if you are interested or would like more information.
