In January, Grade 6 students began learning about the United Nations Global Goals as part of their Individuals and Societies class. Over the course of the following 3 months, students selected a goal that they felt passionate about to research and take action on. For her project on Global Goal 5: Gender Equality, Emily did a presentation at the Junior School to raise awareness, then did a bake sale that raised over $500 for girls in developing countries. Meanwhile, Daniel and Evan focused on Global Goal 15, Life on Land. They spent two days in Mystic Vale at Uvic weeding invasive species. For his project, Matthew chose Global Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. He decided to do spearhead an awareness campaign with a presentation in Middle School assembly.”It went really well,” he said. “I got a standing ovation.”  Other students took action by making lunches and packages for the homeless, creating awareness campaigns in the school and the community, writing letters, and more. As a group, the results of this project were nothing less than fantastic! Collective Action $ Raised3023.50 Donations
