We Scare Hunger

The Middle School Round Square group has been working very hard on a project called We Scare Hunger, a food drive to help support people in need in our community. “I think it’s important because this is the [community] that we’re living in; this is what we’re going to see when we grow up and it should be the same for everyone else,” says Duncan M. ’26. To support the initiative, students can bring their non-perishable food items to their homeform classes in the Middle School from October 21 to November 8. There are some exceptions to the donations: nuts, candy, and perishable food will not be accepted. Cash or cheque donations are also welcome. All donations will go to the Mustard Seed Food Bank. This is a great opportunity to bring our community together.  As Ethan Lee ’26 explains, “For me it’s a great opportunity to get rid of all the canned yams and beets in my cupboard.” We Scare Hunger originated with the WE Charity, and is an initiative undertaken by students around the world. GNS has participated for a few years now, led by the students of the Middle School Round Square Group. As a prize, the homeform who brings the most non-perishable items will win a mufti day and a surprise. Still, Duncan says for him it’s not about winning. “It’s a little bit of a rivalry, but I don’t really care about mufti that much,” he says. “It’s all just about doing something good.” “It’s all about equality,” adds Ethan. Thank you for supporting the Middle School Round Square and the Mustard Seed!
