On December 4, GNS musicians from Grades 6 to 12 performed a collection of classic holiday songs for a packed house in the newly rededicated Denford Hall. Current parents and staff were joined by past parents and staff and alumni to enjoy a wonderful concert and celebrate the GNS community. The event opened with a massed band number where band teachers Steve Thompson and Robert Gordy lead over 180 musicians through a performance of “Ode to Joy.” This was followed by a welcome from Izzy Moyer, our Senior School Arts Prefect. “Thank you for joining us in celebrating the learning, artistry and community that we value so much at GNS,” she said. “A big thank you to everyone who supports these wonderful students every day.” The rest of the evening was given over to music from our Grade 6 Band, our Senior Concert Band, our Senior Jazz Orchestra and our Middle School Band. There were even some opportunities for audience participation when Dr. Marvin Regier led everyone in seasonal sing-a-longs. Thank you to everyone who made this evening such a success. Missed this concert? Watch it now: The Winter Wonderland concert was the first of our seasonal celebrations. Don’t miss our choirs perform at the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, happening next Tuesday, December 11, at 7 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral.
