The Denford family recently made history by donating a $5,000,000 lead gift in support of GNS’s upcoming capital campaign. This donation is the second-largest single donation to an independent school west of Toronto and will forever alter the future of our school. This incredible gift was announced on December 4, 2018, prior to the Winter Wonderland Concert. Some 250 friends of GNS gathered outside the Hall to pay tribute to the Denford family. On-hand for the celebration were four members of the Denford family: Chris, a Glenlyon Preparatory School graduate and GNS board member; his wife, Anne, a fixture on campus as a volunteer and tireless supporter; Chris’ sister Laura, an alumna of Norfolk House School; and Gordon, the patriarch of the family and a man whose support of the school spans more than fifty years as a parent, grandparent, board member, donor, and friend. The formal portion of the evening included speeches from Head of School, Dr. Glenn Zederayko; Deputy Head, Chad Holtum; former Headmaster, Hamish Simpson; and Gordon Denford himself. At the conclusion of the speeches, the school staged a special rededication ceremony in which the Hall was rechristened as Denford Hall. Many thanks to everyone who was able to join us for this momentous occasion. In case you missed it, you can watch a full video of the ceremony below:
