Gearing up for Summer FUN at GNS!

GNS is getting ready for a fun-filled summer! The 2021 Summer Camps Program offers a wide range of activities from June through August for GNS and non-GNS students, aged four to 18.

“It is very exciting to be able to run another year of GNS Camps,” said Shannon Sullivan, Manager, External Programs. “As a team, we have worked hard to modify our camp program to be successful during a global pandemic. We have made our camp sizes smaller to ensure social distancing, and we are offering individual camper packages that include colouring supplies, paper, glue and scissors. All other crafting materials are sanitized and handed out individually. I’m also grateful for the beautiful outdoor space that we are able to enjoy all summer long, from our private beach to the turf and the ample space to run and play.”

With all the options available this year, there is a camp for everyone including aspiring chefs, kayak enthusiasts, field hockey fans, magic lovers and more.

“This summer we will be launching several new camps,” said Sullivan. “We have created Culinary and Baking Camps. In our Culinary Camp, campers can expect to cook their lunch and two snacks every day. Some of our tested favourites—and student-approved—have been making dough for pan pizzas, butter chicken, gnocchi and homemade salsas. For the summertime, we will be offering different themes such as Backyard BBQ, Street Eats, Vegetarian and Summer Picnic.”

Campers in the Baking Camps will make a special individualized goodie each day. These will include cupcakes, cake pops and no-bake treats. The campers will learn how to adjust ingredients and make substitutions for healthy alternatives as well.

For our younger campers, there is a variety of weekly theme camps available, too, like Music & Dance, Beach Explorers and STEM. We also offer a series of Startup Skool sessions where students get a chance to learn how to think with an entrepreneurial mindset.

As we prepare for a summer full of fun, GNS artists and creative designers can participate in the 2021 GNS Summer Camp T-shirt Design Contest. The t-shirt will be worn by more than 300 Summer Camp participants in Victoria, and the winner will be eligible for one free week at a GNS summer camp in 2021 (some restrictions apply).
