Even though we are not certain yet about what September will look like, we are planning ahead, so we are ready. As part of this, our host family recruitment process has gone online. Just like in many other areas of school life, we have adapted our procedure as a result of COVID-19 for the health and safety of everyone involved. By doing this, GNS community members are still able to apply to host international students.

The only real difference is that the interview and home tour is done virtually. After being contacted via email, a specific time will be set up for a video chat with our Family Boarding Coordinator. Potential hosts will give a virtual tour of their home, while the coordinator fills out the GNS home visit checklist. Once the home visit and specific paperwork are completed, students are matched with families with the utmost care in hopes of creating a comfortable and positive experience for everyone.

The Family Boarding Program gives GNS families (current parents or staff) the unique opportunity to host international students in their homes. For the students, this is a way for us to offer a welcoming, safe, supportive, English-speaking, family environment.

While our program benefits the international students, host families also benefit from the opportunity to learn about new cultures and to create long-lasting relationships with the students. Find out more about the GNS Family Boarding Program.
