Grade 8 student Shreesha Ramandev recently showcased her philanthropic side by raising more than $800 for the Victoria General Hospital Auxiliary’s Poinsettias for Patients campaign. This year, the auxiliary has been raising money to create ‘The Kid Kave,’ a separate waiting room for children at the Victoria General Hospital.

Shreesha canvassed her neighbourhood and asked neighbours to buy poinsettias and support the cause she was trying to help raise money for.

“I wanted to do it because I wanted to help the community, and I’m interested in volunteering for causes that help kids,” she said.

This was the first time that Shreesha took part in this fundraiser, and she said the idea of a ‘Kid Kave,’ really piqued her interest.

“I was really happy to be able to raise so much,” she said. “My hopes would get low when some people said no, but I was happy that people kept saying yes and I kept going to raise that money.”

Great job Shreesha for demonstrating a caring nature and providing help for a community partner!
