Last Friday was an exciting day at GNS with the official opening of the Scott Fitness Centre!
Made possible by the generous support of GNS families, this modern facility will help students on the Pemberton Woods Campus do their very best in all of their athletic endeavours. The opening event was very well attended, from parents, students, donors, staff and board members alike, with everyone eager to check out the new space. After speeches from Head of School Dr. Glenn Zederayko, Deputy Head of School Chad Holtum, and Board Member Chris Denford, students got to help Dr. Zederayko cut the red ribbon and announce the Fitness Centre officially open!
Holtum comments, “What’s great about the Fitness Centre is that it benefits the entire PW campus and it’s being used from everything to karate and yoga, to weights and spin classes, to heavy lifting with the GNS Weightlifting Club. It has turned into exactly what we had hoped, which is a multi-purpose space.”
Ten donors funded the Centre in its entirety.
Holtum elaborates, “It was donor-driven, which enhances our programming, and we’re very grateful for the philanthropy of these donors, which benefits the whole GNS community.”
Dr. Zederayko adds, “We encourage you to come by and see the donor wall in the Scott Fitness Centre and recognize these folks for their significant contributions that will benefit our students tremendously.”
The Scott Fitness Centre is just one of a series of enhancements planned for both campuses, with each focused on maximizing the experiences of every member of our GNS community.
