GNS alumni, faculty and staff gathered at the Victoria Golf Club on Saturday morning to reconnect over mimosas and brunch. Grad classes from many eras of GNS’s history got the chance to catch up and mingle, sharing stories about their time at the school. A special mention to the grad classes of 1964 for their 55th reunion, the grad class of 1989 for their 30th reunion, and the grad class of 2009 for their 10th reunion! During the brunch, former Head of School Hamish Simpson spoke about how Glenlyon Preparatory School started, former Head of Norfolk House School Peggy Wilmot spoke on some of the traditions around assemblies during her time as Head, former Head of School David Brooks talked about the amalgamation of the two schools becoming GNS, while Chad Holtum gave us a glimpse of GNS today and what the future holds for the school. The morning also featured a gorgeous display by GNS archivist Stuart Brambley, showcasing memorabilia from many generations. “Events like these are great because they highlight our shared history and help people make new connections,” said Alumni Coordinator Alexandra Plews, who spearheaded the event. “And with a sold out brunch of a hundred attendees, there will be many more GNS alumni events to come!” Alexandra Plews highlighted the importance of alumni connections and invited all to continue engaging with the GNS community on the new alumni digital platform mygnsconnect.com, where alumni can see upcoming global events, become a mentor or mentee in the schools new Mentorship Program, share their story, volunteer and keep up to date with the latest GNS news.
