By Graeme Campbell Ms. Greven’s IB Visual Arts 6 class has been creating Stop Motion videos using iPads and modelling clay. The iPads will be used to take a series (~120!) of shots to simulate motion. Students are encouraged to play with a variety of techniques including faster and slower motion, making the limbs of their characters move, and creating an engaging story through perspective and zoom. Students have enjoyed blending the physical aspect of working with clay with the technological aspect of allowing them to make their creations come to life. They are looking forward to presenting these videos during an upcoming middle school assembly. Stay tuned! This is a full-term project focusing on bringing together set construction, sculpting with modelling clay, stop-motion animation, and sound, all while navigating the dynamics of group work. There films are based on the theme of “Perseverance”.
