The Hall Construction Begins!

The halls of GNS are filled with more than the regular back-to-school bustle this year. Yes, students are keenly discussing the academic highlights they’re about to experience—Grade 2 Marketplace, Grade 8 Gallery of Fame, and the IB Personal Project Exhibition—but there’s an added buzz, a heightened energy, thanks to the diggers, cranes, and cement trucks that have begun construction on The Hall on the Pemberton Woods Campus. The Hall will be the school’s gathering place—a 385-seat auditorium used for school assemblies, music and theatre performances, and special lectures. It will be an inspiring space in which students will hear about and reflect upon the values education so critical to our school’s Mission. It will be a space that brings our community together. The Hall will be the heart of our school. Doubtless, once The Hall is finished our school will grow stronger, but the very fact that construction has begun is also a testament to the strength and commitment of our community. The Hall is being built by donations from parents, former parents, staff, friends, and alumni. Many parents are participating by donating their school bond(s) toward the construction of The Hall through the Bond Matching Program: every school bond that is donated is matched up to four times its value thanks to generous donations by leading supporters. To date, the school has raised $2.1 million dollars in cash toward the $6.6 million dollar project. Fundraising initiatives, including the Bond Matching Program, will continue to be a fundraising focus at the school, in order to minimize the amount of financing we will require from the bank.
