Last Friday, the GNS WONDER Carnival returned after a one-year hiatus. Taking place at the Beach Campus for the first time, it also marked the Grand Opening of the Junior School’s new Main Building.
As the school day ended on October 1, Head of School Mr. Chad Holtum began the celebration by speaking about what’s to come for the WONDER Campaign and it’s most recent milestone reached: $20 million raised! As guests started to arrive, he officially opened the Main Building, complete with a ribbon breaking performed by some very excited students.
After that, the festivities commenced, as the entire school grounds were filled with food trucks, bouncy castles, face painting, a dunk tank, and much more.
The carnival took place outdoors, and the early fall weather cast sun across the water and onto the fun. For many, this was one of the first in-person events that they could attend in quite some time.
Senior Development Manager Ms. Mary Anne Marchildon was thrilled that GNS could put the event on.
“The best part about the carnival was seeing so many people coming together again,” she said. “Seeing the kids and the parents again was wonderful.”
On Saturday, October 2, ten individual dedication and naming ceremonies were held on the Beach Campus, with donors honouring current and past contributors to the community.
Ms. Marchildon added, “We wanted to recognize those who have contributed to GNS. It was a time for many of them to come back to the school and officially see what they’ve helped create.”
Thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success and to all the heroes who have contributed to the campaign!
