Though the temperatures have still been a bit chilly, the longer days are certainly a welcome change. Here are some updates from the school.
Removal of Temporary Structures
As per our agreement with the City of Victoria from fall 2020, the school plans to remove the temporary portable and sprung gym from the Pemberton Woods campus in July of 2023. This will form part of our annual summer facilities work which will also include renovations to various learning and teaching areas on the lower floor of the Brooks Building.
GNS Presents: Grease
Our Senior School students will present Grease, the musical, from March 8 to 11 in Denford Hall. This classic musical is part nostalgia, part satirical romp through the tropes of high school life. All performances will be at 7 p.m. except for the Saturday matinee which will start at 2 p.m. Please email communications@mygns.ca for information on how to obtain some complimentary tickets.
Traffic Updates
We have now completed the move of our co-curricular and field trip bussing to our Richmond Avenue bus layby. This change will continue to allow us to assess how our bussing procedures could work if more bussing were moved to that location. Please continue to provide feedback to neighbours@mygns.ca regarding this change as it will help to inform our assessment.
Our parents have also been reminded about the Arrive in Five Walk and Roll Zones created by the City last fall as alternative locations for drop-off and pick-up. We always welcome any feedback from our neighbours regarding traffic in the area so please reach out if you notice any issues during the day.
Email Distribution List
As part of our commitment to communications with our neighbours, we encourage you to register for our neighbour email distribution list which we will use to send out these monthly updates. If you would like to be added to our email list, please email neighbours@mygns.ca.
Service & Community Engagement
As we continue to plan and participate in community service initiatives throughout the year, if you have any suggestions about other service opportunities for our students to volunteer in the community, or if you would like to be involved in future student-led service activities in our neighbourhood, please email neighbours@mygns.ca.
