GNS pairs international students in Grades 9–12 with school host families.
Since 2013, GNS has been very intentional about bringing the world to Victoria through the Family Boarding Homestay program. Over the years, we have welcomed students from countries like Japan, China, Germany, Mexico, Egypt, Korea and Vietnam.
At Glenlyon Norfolk School, we strive to foster a global perspective. As an IB World and Round Square School, we believe that virtues like empathy and understanding are best learned through genuine interaction. Our Family Boarding Homestay program is an important component of this strategy. The goal of the program is to provide a welcoming, safe, supportive, English-speaking, family environment for students in Grades 9 to 12.
Unlike traditional “homestays,” our model is unique in Canada. We guarantee students live exclusively with GNS families. This ensures they are provided with a safe and supportive English-speaking family environment that has strong connections to the school community. Additionally, our full-time coordinator matches students based on shared interests, ensuring they are immersed in a community shares common values.
